BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
About two dozen first responders from across the Coast have been in intensive training for the past two days. They are learning how to handle decontamination catastrophes when they come up.
The company that is doing the training is called DECON. Its president is Tom Bocek. He and his team of experts travel the globe teaching decontamination techniques and procedures.
This week, the company is doing the training free of charge at the Biloxi Fire Department. Bocek says it's not a matter of if, but when a disaster will strike. Therefore, first responders need to be ready.
Today they practiced triage, setting up a decontamination tent and washing down contaminated patients.
Doug Walker was in the class as well, and will have complete details on the story tonight on WLOX News and on WLOX.com.
